OUR PHILOSOPHY: From the moment it opened its stores in 1994, Sparkle N Dazzle Jewelers embarked on a never ending quest to fuse the essential timelessness of the diamond with contemporary design movement, flavoring it with iconoclastic verve and a dash of scintillating and sumptuous modern romance. Pushing talisman boundaries of artistry, design and craftsmanship, to honor the rich illustrious heritage of the gemstone and diamond and to celebrate its true natural beauty for the whole world to admire and adore loud, unqualified and long.

The Beauty of Nature's Colored Diamonds: In 1817 a French mineralogist named R.J. Hauy wrote "Gems are the flowers of the mineral kingdom-fancy colored diamonds are the orchids." Fancy colored diamonds have been recognized as exquisite and rare for some time, but it's only been in the past few years that using fancy colored diamonds for engagement rings has become a hot trend. The strongest characterstics of all belong to the colored diamonds, the sumptuous rarities of the gemstone world, nature’s true masterpieces, each intensely resolute, succulent perfection expressionilist, engaging and, on occasion, even stunningly eccentric.

Demand for these orchids of the gem world have increased due to press coverage of celebrities who own them.. With fancy colored stones, the diamond cutter concentrates on enhancing the color of the stone. As a result, he wants to lengthen the path of the light so that it picks up and deepens the color. The clarity is less important with fancy colored diamonds because the color of the stones can hide inclusions. Carat weight for these stones is also extremely important. Colored diamonds are much more rare than colorless ones as the size of the stone increases; thus, they're much more expensive.

Art of Looking At Masterpieces: Rock and roll luxe blends together the magpie with the goth. Damien Hirsts For the Love of God, a now iconic human skull covered with diamonds valued at £12mn, is a paradigm of the style: outre; dark and expensive. Frivolous too. It doesn’t so much flirt with bad taste as lift up its skirt and goose it.

Many a fine jeweller has looked to myth and legend for their inspiration. Van Cleef & Arpels have produced collections inspired by the fairies of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the lost city of Atlantis, while one of De Beers most recent collections, Amulets, is based on the imagery of African tribal totems. Stephen Webster, recently appointed as creative director of the Crown Jeweller Garrard, works with a very different kind of visual currency. ‘For me,’ says Webster, ‘it’s Mick Rock’s photographs of David Bowie and the Spiders from Mars in the 1970s that capture the essence of what I do.’ Webster’s work is utterly unique but also very much a part of the new school of luxury – a kind of modern luxury that looks, and feels, like classic rock and roll.

The art of perspective is of such a nature as to make what is flat appear in relief and what is in relief flat. All the problems of perspective are made clear by the five terms of mathematicians, which are:--the point, the line, the angle, the superficies and the solid. The point is unique of its kind. And the point has neither height, breadth, length, nor depth, whence it is to be regarded as indivisible and as having no dimensions in space. The line is of three kinds, straight, curved and sinuous and it has neither breadth, height, nor depth. Hence it is indivisible, excepting in its length, and its ends are two points. The angle is the junction of two lines in a point.  If one single point placed in a circle may be the starting point of an infinite number of lines, and the termination of an infinite number of lines, there must be an infinite number of points separable from this point, and these when reunited become one again; whence it follows that the part may be equal to the whole. The point, being indivisible, occupies no space. That which occupies no space is nothing. The limiting surface of one thing is the beginning of another. 2. That which is no part of any body is called nothing. 1. That which has no limitations, has no form. The limitations of two conterminous bodies are interchangeably the surface of each. All the surfaces of a body are not parts of that body. An angular surface is reduced to a point where it terminates in an angle. Or, if the sides of that angle are produced in a straight line, then--beyond that angle--another surface is generated, smaller, or equal to, or larger than the first. Consider with the greatest care the form of the outlines of every object, and the character of their undulations. And these undulations must be separately studied, as to whether the curves are composed of arched convexities or angular concavities.

The boundaries of bodies are the least of all things. The proposition is proved to be true, because the boundary of a thing is a surface, which is not part of the body contained within that surface; nor is it part of the air surrounding that body, but is the medium interposted between the air and the body, as is proved in its place. But the lateral boundaries of these bodies is the line forming the boundary of the surface, which line is of invisible thickness. Wherefore O painter! do not surround your bodies with lines, and above all when representing objects smaller than nature; for not only will their external outlines become indistinct, but their parts will be invisible from distance. Perspective is a rational demonstration by which experience confirms that every object sends its image to the eye by a pyramid of lines; and bodies of equal size will result in a pyramid of larger or smaller size, according to the difference in their distance, one from the other. By a pyramid of lines I mean those which start from the surface and edges of bodies, and, converging from a distance meet in a single point. A point is said to be that which [having no dimensions] cannot be divided, and this point placed in the eye receives all the points of the cone. The instant the atmosphere is illuminated it will be filled with an infinite number of images which are produced by the various bodies and colours assembled in it. And the eye is the target, a loadstone, of these images.

DIAMOND 4C's: When we speak of cut we are more interested in the proportions of the diamond as opposed to its shape (Round Brilliant, Marquise, Pear, Princess, etc.) Every diamond regardless of its shape gets it brilliancy and scintillation by cutting and polishing the diamond facets to allow the maximum amount of light that enters through its top to be reflected and dispersed back through its top. A correctly cut, "well made", stone is pictured in diagram 1. As you can see if the angles are correct the light that enters is dispersed properly back through the diamond's top facets. When a stone is cut too shallow (diagram2) or too deep (diagram3) the light that enters through the top is allowed to escape through the diamond's bottom and does not allow the maximum beauty of the diamond to be realized.
