Milan- Fashion Capital of Italia
Milan is
considered the design business and fashion capital and hub of Italy,
with several fashion and trade fairs in the Rho` district of the
city. Milan is also Italia's richest and second largest city. The
city is famous for many museums, beautiful architecture, nightlife
and exhibitions. The stunning scenery of Lake Lecco and Lake Como is
worth a day's trip and again a very short journey by train.
Via
Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga are two of the most famous and
influential fashion streets possibly in the whole world. These
streets are richly concentrated with furriers, jewellers and fashion
designers. Every designer has a shop in these streets: Luois
Vitton, Iceberg, Bottega Veneta, Dior, and Armani,
to name a small handful. When Milan holds fashion fairs at numerous
time periods of the year, these streets are full of people from the fashion
industry- manufacturers, buyers, designers and viewers both day
and night, visiting the shops and fashion shows observing what new
trendy fashions 'are in', and which all are going out.
Brera a very
fashionable district not far from the centre, is used to be known as
the 'artists' quarter'. It remains as 'in' area today, and is a very
fashionable and exclusive district, with 'sophisticated bohemian'
homeware shops, bookshops, restaurants, bars, and boutique shops.
This area is
where you can find the famous Pinacoteca di Brera, one of milan's
most fashionable art galleries, exhibiting works from many well known
artists, including Canaletto and Rubens. This art
gallery is housed in the 18th century palace Palazzo Brera.
St.Ambrogio is
the city's patron saint, and the Basilica of St.Ambrogio in the heart
of the city, is one of the oldest and finest churches in Milan. Every
year from the 7th to 9th December it's the patron saint's day, and
there is a lot of celebrations and events to be found throughout the
city. There are many various stalls, including music, food stalls,
etc in Piazza Sant'Ambrogio and the surrounding area. It is the
city's most traditional festival, and a nice way to get you in the
festivities spirit, at the start of the Christmas period!
Usually
fashion shows and fairs are regularly held in Milan, and it regarded
by many as the 'Fashion Capital'
of Italia. |
